Information Submitted Directly
A name, phone number, or address entered in a search form is sent to the third-party provider that supplies the results. Aiken Residents Directory does not retain a copy of those searches. If you send a message, we receive the information included in that message and use it to respond.
Automatic Technical Information
Routine hosting logs can record an IP address, browser type, visited pages, and timestamps. We review this information in aggregate to operate the service and understand general page use. Cookies or related technology can support basic analytics and, if used, advertising measurement.
How Information Is Used
Information is used to operate the site, resolve technical issues, measure traffic, and improve the reference content. We do not sell visitor lists or create individual visitor profiles.
External Sites and Search Providers
Links lead to county and state portals, library collections, archives, and third-party search services. Their own privacy terms govern anything submitted on those sites, including sponsored-result services.
Service Providers and Disclosure
Hosting and support providers may process routine logs for site operation. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic data described above. Information is disclosed when valid legal process requires it and otherwise only as needed to provide the service.
Data Security
The site uses an encrypted connection and retains logs only for the operational purposes described here. Because no user accounts are offered, there is no site password or personal profile to maintain.
Visitors Under 18
The service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Contact us if you believe a minor provided information so it can be removed.
Privacy Requests
Depending on location, a visitor may have a right to seek access, correction, or deletion of personal data a site keeps. South Carolina’s research materials do not identify a general consumer-privacy statute that governs this private reference. Because we retain very little, a request normally involves the contact mailbox and relevant server logs. Use the contact page to make a request. A public record held by a South Carolina, Aiken County, or City of Aiken custodian must be addressed to that custodian.
